Make Your Honeymoon One For The Ages

By Gabrielle Knoss

When couples plan their wedding, it occupies most of their time and energy and the honeymoon phase is often relegated to the background. Aside from the preparation, there are parties here and there that are thrown by friends of the lucky couple. For the most part couples would like to be directly involved in the wedding preparation just to make sure that nothing will go awry on the big day. There are too many things to do that the couple need to have help, but the matter of their honeymoon is their sole responsibility. In spite of the hectic schedule, couples should make time to at least make some preliminary preparations for their honeymoon. A honeymoon is too important for the newlyweds to keep at the backburner because it not just a matter of picking up their bags and boarding the first plane available.

The first thing the couple should do when preparing for their honeymoon is to agree on the place. They know best what they would want in their honeymoon, be it in a tropical island or a ski resort or in Gay Paris, or wherever. They should take some time off to discuss their honeymoon after they have settled the more urgent matter of the wedding date. In their planning, they should take into consideration the wedding preparation and the ceremony itself and the physical and emotional toll that it will cost them. So some may look forward to some idyllic spot where they can just laze around and spend romantic evenings watching the sunset while other may still have the energy to explore the ruins of ancient Greece.

After the honeymoon couple decides what type of holiday they want, they can access several sources for honeymoon ideas and advice from other sources. People who have recently done similar travel can provide some great honeymoon ideas. If a sea cruise is in the offing, then look for people who have done it and listen to their experiences and recommendations. They can also get information from a host of other sources like the print media, especially travel magazines. Each couple should remember to check out the local newspaper for honeymoon ideas. Once the destination is agreed upon, it is time to make the reservations.

Travel magazines are great places to look for honeymoon ideas. Places, accommodations, how to get there, prices and more - all of these you can usually read in a travel magazine. Those on a budget might want to start with looking for some bargains in the newspapers. There are often some great deals on airfare and on accommodations away from home.

If you are fortunate not to worry about money, then do everything you have to do to give that fairytale honeymoon experience with your loved one. Any honeymoon idea should be the beginning of the plans for a momentous occasion.
