Taking a tour to the Alaska is one of the most enjoyable travel experiences you will ever have. This park is very large covering over 2 million acres. It is a lot of fun to hike the many trails and this will surely have you stopping to stare at the amazing sights. This great park that was launched in 1941 was initially known as the Kenai Moose Range. It was then made a national park in 1980 and this is a great place to launch your Alaska adventure travel.

A stunning feature that is notable in Kenai National Park is the extensive Harding Ice Field which covers a very wide area of more than eight hundred square miles. This is one of the wonders of Alaska and it is also where you can find some of the remaining spots to see glacial ice which has been there for over ten thousand years. Skilak Lake which is about 4 miles across and fifteen miles long is also accessible to those who visit the park. This lake adds the beauty of Alaska since it has a beautiful island on its centre known as Frying Pan Island. This lake is about five hundred and twenty-eight feet deep and consists of very clear water making it seem bottomless.

Fishing & Watching animals

A large number of fishermen and women normally tour this area every year with an aim of casting their luck into the Kenai River that passes through the park. Some of the fish species that are in plenty in this river are chino, coho and pink salmon. If you walk around the park, it is easy to come across moose, black bears, brown bears, and sheep. There are also various bird species that are rare and interesting which fly in the skies and live in Kenai. A guest in this park is also likely to see a bald eagle as well as several other rare, endangered and protected species in the area.

For those who want to be more adventurous, they can go on an eighty-two mile trek on the Kenai River and once they are on the shores, they can fish for their dinner and maybe get lucky to catch a King Salmon. The fish that is believed to be larger than the rest in Kenai River is King Salmon that weighs a huge ninety-seven pounds, 4 ounces.
