Having Fun In Hiroshima

By Freddy McCandless

Planning to go to Japan? If you make your way to Hiroshima, here are a couple of areas that you should positively check out. Keep on reading to find out more.

Peace Memorial Park

When in Hiroshima, whether you know it or not, you are probably going to end up here eventually. It is because the spot is just so huge. You will have about 120,000 square meters to explore. This is also where the Peace Memorial Museum is located. This museum is actually made of two buildings focusing on the history of the city along with the dropping of the nuclear bomb and how it took its toll. A little warning to those who have their kids with them- there might be a couple of pieces that you would definitely want to keep away from your kids, so maybe you could skip some parts and just make your way to the A bomb dome instead.

Hiroshima Castle

Take a look into the history by going to the Hiroshima Castle. Also known as the Carp Castle, this masterpiece stands 5 stories tall and is even surrounded by a moat. This is positively something everyone will enjoy. There is one main gate to enter and you will even find a shrine on the grounds. Since there is a museum, instead of just mindless wandering, you could in fact learn a thing or two about the place.

Shukkeien Garden

When in Japan, you should definitely take the time to enjoy the beauty of the landscape as well. The Shukkeien Garden is definitely one spot where you can see some of the best that Japan has to offer. Shukkeien in fact means shrunken scenery garden when translated in English. So, just as the name implies, you will see small scaled mini valleys, forests, and mountains all over the landscape. Perfect for a lazy afternoon, just stroll along and enjoy the view.

Mazda Museum

Anyone who loves a car will certainly love this place. Since this company was founded in Hiroshima, it is only normal that this is where you will find the Mazda Museum slash factory. If you are really interested, then you better sign up for the 90 minute tour. Just a quick tip, you will need to make a reservation in advance if you want to get in.

Hiroshima Downtown

If you want to do a little shopping and maybe sit down and enjoy a meal, then you should definitely make your way to Hiroshima Downtown. But the fun does not end when the sun goes down, with all of the bars and clubs, it is fair to say that the fun will just begin.
