How Marathon Training Is Good For Your Health

By Stan Helpath

There are hundreds of excuses out there not to run. But how many times have you sat down and tried to find reasons to run. Running is a very easy task, so is finding a good reason to run. If you're having trouble, here are a few reasons to run.

There is no equipment required. Well, maybe a pair of running shoes but even that is optional. There is no equipment to buy and no special "know how" required to run. You can also take your hobby with you wherever you go so it's great for travelers.

Staying trim is next on our list. You can burn upwards of one thousand calories an hour by running at a fast pace. And even if you don't have much time short burst of high intensity training can really boost your overall calorie burn.

Lower stress and better sleep - who doesn't like the sound of that. Running can have great benefits on both of these items because it is proven to naturally lower our stress levels and elevate our mood by releasing endorphins.

Your overall cardiovascular health will also dramatically improve with continued running and training. Your blood pressure will naturally lower and your heart will become more efficient by pumping more blood with fewer beats.

You can also improve coordination and flexibility by running off road. Trail running not only mixes things up from but can force you to become quicker and lighter on your feet, thereby giving you better coordination.

The act of training for a marathon has also become a great weekend activity that promotes friendship and community. Many major cities and metropolitan areas have formal running clubs that raise money for charitable organizations.

I hope these reasons are enough for you to realize that running is not only healthy for you, but can be a great hobby and a lifelong passion.
