Monteagle Hotels For Mountain Stays In Tennessee

By Felipe Hitt

There are many different kinds of travelers who seek Monteagle hotels, but most of them have one thing in common. They all need to navigate the hair-raising mountain section of I-24 that passes through the town. It's no coincidence that most of the Monteagle lodging options are strategically close to the interstate.

But not all of it is necessity, because the town is well known as a mountain holiday destination. It is located in n Tennessee, about 40 miles from Chattanooga in the Cumberland Plateau. Many visitors come here for a cozy weekend getaway or an outdoor vacation with mountain biking and hiking. The rolling green hillsides dotted with wineries attract quite a few Oenophiles for wine festivals, tastings and winery tours.

But most Monteagle inn keepers are kept busy mainly because of travelers staying overnight while passing through on I-24. It's a treacherous section and anyone arriving in the evening would be well-advised to seek out a place to stay for the night. This is why most of the properties are bunched up around the interstate exits.

Almost every property can be found on or in close proximity to W Main Street. Three hotels are at the aforementioned exits on either side of the intersection where W Main St meets the interstate. Some travelers may also prefer to follow the road to the town center, where they can find a couple more inns.

But the best part of a mountain stay can be found on the other side of the interstate, where visitors can find Monteagle cabin rentals. This will again be up close to the interstate exit and still on W Main St. But these Monteagle cabins are more suitable for other visitors too, such as the crowds that attend music festivals and events in Sewanee, at the University of the South.

The lodge and the 20 cabins, located centrally with regard to the town center, the interstate, Franklin County Airport and nearby Sewanee, are just perfect for these event attendees and other business visitors. It can get so busy that advance reservations are necessary for a week in which some event is scheduled. It's practically impossible to get a last minute cabin or room during homecoming weekends and graduation.

The cabins are nicely tucked into 25 tree-shaded acres around the lodge. It's an ideal place for couples and families to spend a cozy weekend, and for corporate clients who want to organize events and retreats. These are rustic mountain cabins completely modernized with the latest facilities on the inside. Each one has a soak tub, Jacuzzi, mini-bar, kitchen and wood burning fireplace.

Many people passing through intend to stay overnight, but end up staying for a couple more days. The healthy mountain air, wineries, natural beauty and the peace and quiet makes it hard to let go and move on. That's why Monteagle hotels get to make friends with guests who keep coming back every year.
