Kiboko Bay Resort is Located on The Shores of Lake Victoria

By Imani Kimatt

Kiboko Bay Resort is the most highly rated of the Kisumu hotels. It is situated right on the shores of Lake Victoria and as such, offers uninterrupted views of the vast lake. Lake Victoria which is named after the famous Queen Victoria of Britain is one of Africa's greatest lakes. This is because it is the second largest lake in the world after the US ' Lake Superior and is the source of the Nile River which is the planet's longest river.

The hotel is located in a tranquil corner of Kisumu city. It caters for upscale patrons who would like to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Indeed, it is the accommodation of choice for ambassadors, foreign dignitaries, royalty and international stars alike. So there is a sense in which it provides luxury, adventure, nature, relaxation, and a taste of the local culture. Its sunsets are especially unforgettable.

Rather than standard hotel-like rooms in high-rise buildings with endless corridors, guests stay in luxury self-contained tents on short stilts. These tents are roofed with grass thatch which is continuous reminder that you're in Africa. Besides air-con and satellite Television, fully stocked fridge bars and web connectivity come as standard features in all of the guest tents. These wonderful tents are set amidst large lush gardens with grown trees, complementing the resort's exotic aura.

The food at the pool side cafe is incredibly tasty. Whether or not it is freshly caught Tilapia fillet that you fancy or mouth-watering meat or chicken, Kiboko Bay offers an imaginative menu to suit all taste buds.

The resort offers a variety of Lake Victoria-based recreational pursuits. These include speed boats that can employed for picnics on the lake's countless islands, to go on sport fishing expeditions or for sightseeing rides.

"Kiboko" stands for "hippo" in the Swahili language. This is a suitable name for the resort as hippos can often be seen grazing in the resort's gardens. So it's an excellent spot to stay if you like these massive water herbivores.
